Fourth-seeded Buffalo State will host a SUNYAC Quarterfinal game against No. 5 Fredonia on Wednesday at the Ice Arena a 7 p.m. The game will be the fourth home playoff game in school history, and third in as many years.

Buffalo State finished the regular season 12-11-2 overall and was 7-8-1 in SUNYAC play.  Fredonia is 7-15-3 overall and 5-9-2 in conference play.

Buffalo State swept the regular season series against the Blue Devils, including a 7-3 win in Fredonia on Nov. 30 in which the Bengals jumped out to a 5-0 lead early in the second period.  The Bengals clinched the fourth seed when they defeated Fredonia at home by a 4-2 count just this past Friday.

Buffalo State is led offensively by four players with double-digit goals.  Sophomore Nick Melligan (Sanborn, NY/Starpoint) leads the team with 27 points on 11 goals and 16 assists.  Junior captain Mike Zannella (Ithaca, NY/Ithaca) has a team-best 15 goals to go with nine assists for 24 points.  Seniors Trevor McKinney (Oakwood, ON/Sinclair) and Matt Bessing (Elma, NY/Cheektowaga) have scored 12 and 11 goals respectively.

Junior Kevin Carr (Uniondale, ON/Uniondale) has played every game in goal and has set a school record with 12 victories.  His 34 career wins are also a school best, and he has a .921 save percentage to go with a 2.56 GAA this season.

This is Buffalo State's eighth SUNYAC playoff appearance, including its seventh in the past eight years under Head Coach Nick Carriere. The Bengals defeated Potsdam 4-3 last season in the quarters and advanced to the conference semifinals for the first time last season where they lost 4-3 in triple overtime to eventual conference champion Plattsburgh.

If Buffalo State wins on Wednesday, it will travel to No. 1-seeded Oswego for the semifinals on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Tickets for Wednesday's game will be available at the door for $6 for the public and $3 for students.  Buffalo State students with ID will be admitted for free.
