Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CORTLAND, NY—After falling in four sets to Clarkson (2-1), Buffalo State (1-3) picked up its first win of the season with a four-set win over Pitt-Bradford (1-3) to close out the Cortland Red Dragon Classic.

The Bengals fell to the Knights in the first match, 25-17, 20-25, 14-25 and 12-25. Samantha Parente (E. Patchogue/Bellport) pounded out a team-high seven kills to lead Buffalo State. Kelsey Bashore (Antwerp, OH/Antwerp) posted 18 assists and 18 digs, and Chelsea Moore (Kenmore/Kenmore West) also had 18 digs. Kayla Pyc (Cheektowaga/Maryvale) added four kills and four blocks.

The Bengals picked up their first victory of the season in the late match, winning 25-10, 25-16, 19-25 and 25-15. Parente had 14 kills to pace the offense, while adding nine digs and two blocks. Moore had 24 digs, and Hannah Renaldo (N. Collins/N. Collins) had seven kills. Bashore had 18 assists.

Moore was named to the All-Tournament team.

Buffalo State will play at the Marcia French Invitational next weekend hosted by Baldwin-Wallace and Case Western. The Bengals will open with Capital on Friday at 6 p.m.
