Women’s Hockey Falls 2-1 to Potsdam

POTSDAM, NY – Buffalo State's (1-2-1) Christine Harris (Mountain Top, PA/Wyoming Seminary) tied things up in the third period, but Potsdam (1-1) managed to capture a 2-1 victory on Saturday afternoon.

Both teams had ample opportunities to score in the first period, but neither could find the back of the net as both goalkeepers played strong.

Potsdam netted the first goal of the game nearing the end of the second period with just under five minutes to play.

Buffalo  State came out strong in the third period. Harris recorded her first collegiate goal off an assist from Erin Gehen (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) only two minutes in.

However, the Bears regained the lead back just a few minutes later, scoring a goal at 9:02.

Buffalo State managed to get off 14 shots in the remaining minutes of the game, but the Potsdam goalkeeper would not let anything past.

The Bengals outshot the Bears 28-24.

Justine Silva (El Monte, CA/Arroyo) recorded 22 saves in the loss.

Buffalo State returns to action for the 2014-15 home opener on Friday, Nov. 14 with a conference matchup against Neumann at 7 p.m.
