OSWEGO, NY—Oswego (4-2/2-0) hit nine 3-pointers and shot 60-percent from outside the arc as it defeated visiting Buffalo State (1-3/0-2), 98-71, this afternoon in a SUNYAC contest.
Chris Thompson (Far Rockaway/Channel View) was Buffalo State's leading scorer with 16 points, going 8 of 10 from the field.
Jordan Glover (Buffalo/St. Joe's) added 11 points, while
Bradley Doyley (Brooklyn/HS for Sports Management) netted 10.
Larry Rivers (Syracuse/Fowler) chipped in nine points and five rebounds against his former team.
Brian Sortino and Dustin Pond led the Lakers with 24 and 21 points respectively, and Rashawn Powell had 13 points and 16 rebounds.
Oswego never trailed and led 48-28 at halftime. The Lakers never opened the door in the second half, pushing the lead to as many as 29 and never allowed the Bengals to get closer than 20.
Oswego shot 56-percent from the field for the game, compared to 38-percent by Buffalo State. The Bengals finished just 5 of 20 from 3-point range and 8 of 15 at the free-throw line. Oswego was 15 of 18 from the charity stripe, and held a 46-36 rebounding advantage. Buffalo State held a 17-11 advantage in turnover margin, but could not take advantage of the extra opportunities.
Buffalo State will next host a non-conference game against St. John Fisher next Saturday at 2 p.m.
