Roderick Epps (Uniondale/Uniondale) and
Justin Mitchell (Buffalo/Timon) combined to score 48 points and Buffalo State (12-12/8-9) kept its playoff hope in tact with a 95-80 road victory over Potsdam (4-20/2-15) tonight in a SUNYAC contest.
Epps led the Bengals with 25 points, and Mitchell poured in 23 points while collecting 12 rebounds.
Bradley Doyley (Brooklyn/HS for Sports Management) added 14 points and nine assists, and
Rey Jordan (Buffalo/McKinley) added 10 points.
Chris Thompson (Far Rockaway/Channel View) chipped in eight points and 10 boards.
Potsdam's only lead of the game came at 5-3 as Buffalo State pulled ahead 32-20 and then took a 46-41 lead into the break. In the second half, the Bengals quickly pushed the lead back to double-digits and led by as many as 21 before cruising to the win.
The Bengals shot 50-percent from the field, including going 8 of 15 (53-percent) from 3-point range. Buffalo State also forced 17 Potsdam turnovers that it converted into 16 points.
Buffalo State will close out the regular season tomorrow at Plattsburgh at 4 p.m., needing a win and some help to secure a berth in the SUNYAC playoffs.
