Geneseo Knocks Out Men’s Hockey in Semis, 2-0

Kevin Carr had 45 saves in his final game at Buffalo State
Box Score GENESEO, NY—Buffalo State (10-12-5) saw its season end in the SUNYAC Semifinals for the third-consecutive season as top-seeded Geneseo (21-5) handed the visiting Bengals a 2-0 defeat tonight before a capacity crowd.

After a scoreless first period, Geneseo produced all of the games offense early in the second frame, scoring twice in a span of just over two minutes. Buffalo State had a great chance to get back in the game late in the middle frame when Geneseo was called for a five-minute major and a separate minor penalty at the same time. The Knights killed off the two-man disadvantage and survived the ensuing time on the major penalty as well preserving the two-goal lead. The Knights continued to be the aggressors for much of the third period, maintaining the shutout through the final horn.

Geneseo ended with a 48-29 advantage in shots as Kevin Carr (Unionville, ON/Unionville) did all he could to keep Buffalo State in the contest. The senior goalie finished with 45 saves in his final game as a Bengal.

Geneseo will host No. 3 Oswego in the SUNYAC Championship game next Saturday. Oswego upset No. 2 Plattsburgh, 2-1, in tonight's other semifinal.
