Buffalo State Draws With D’Youville in Home Opener

BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State (1-0-2) women's soccer team outshot D'Youville (1-2-1) 24-9, but could not find the back of the net and had to settle for a 0-0 tie on Saturday afternoon during the 2014 home opener.

The Bengals held onto possession for the majority of the game, but could not find the winning goal. The D'Youville goalkeeper made some strong saves to keep the Spartans in the game.

D'Youville did have an opportunity to take the lead midway through the second half with a shot on an open net, but missed just wide to keep things tied.

Buffalo State continued to keep possession in the overtimes, not allowing the Spartans a shot.

In the closing minutes of the second overtime, the Bengals made an offensive push with three good shots that just missed.

Freshman Victoria Colotti (New Windsor, NY/Newburgh Free) finished the game with eight shots, five on goal.

In goal, freshman Jessica McCarey (Middletown, NY/Middletown) played the first 45:00 and made three saves. Freshman Nicole Torres (Wantagh, NY/MacAruther) played in the remaining 65:00 and tallied one save.

Buffalo State returns to action on Wednesday for a home game against Case Western at 5 pm on Coyer Field.
