ROCHESTER, NY—Buffalo State (5-3) made short work of both Lycoming (6-1) and Hilbert (2-4), winning a pair of straight-set matches today to close out the Nazareth Golden Flyer Invitational.
The Bengals cruised past Lycoming in the morning match, winning 25-17, 25-16 and 25-7.
Kayla Pyc's (Grand Island/Grand Island) 10 kills paced a balanced Buffalo State attack and she also had six blocks.
Jennifer Cecchettini (Hamburg/Frontier) dished out 21 assists, while
Hannah Renaldo (North Collins/North Collins) had five aces and eight digs.
Jessica Crooks (Niagara Falls/Niagara-Wheatfield) chipped in six blocks.
Buffalo State also blew past Hilbert in the late match, winning 25-20, 25-15 and 25-18. Crooks registered a match-high eight kills to go with four blocks. Cecchettini had 19 assists and seven digs, while
Rachelle Kelchlin (West Seneca/St. Mary's) had 13 digs.
Crooks and
Sam Parente (E. Patchogue/Bellport) were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Buffalo State will next host its home opener on Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Medaille.
