Men’s Basketball Winning Streak Ends at Six, Falls at Plattsburgh, 86-71

PLATTSBURGH, NY—Buffalo State (10-7/6-5) had a poor shooting night and had its six-game winning streak come to an end with an 86-71 loss at Plattsburgh (12-5/7-3) tonight in a SUNYAC contest.

Chris Cartwright (Binghamton/Binghamton) paced Buffalo State with 18 points and added seven rebounds.  Chris Thompson (Far Rockaway/Channel View) added 15 points, nine rebounds and four steals, and Larry Rivers (Syracuse/Fowler) chipped in 12 points.  Jordan Glover (Buffalo/St. Joe's) had a career-best eight steals in his first game back from injury.

Buffalo State trailed 46-31 at the break after the Cardinals closed the first half on a 13-3 run.  The Bengals never cut the deficit to less than 11 in the second half with Plattsburgh leading by as many as 21on two separate occasions.

The Bengals forced 24 Plattsburgh turnovers while committing just 14, but could not overcome a tough shooting performance.  Buffalo State shot just 31 percent from the field, including 15 percent (2 of 13) from 3-point range, and hit just 25 of 40 from the charity stripe.  Plattsburgh shot 46-percent from the field and outscored the Bengals 18-6 from long range.  The Cardinals also dominated the glass with a 59-40 rebounding advantage.

Buffalo State will visit Potsdam for another league game tomorrow at 2 p.m.
