OSWEGO, NY— Oswego (13-4-1/9-3-1) netted three power-play goals en route to an 8-1 victory over visiting Buffalo State (9-8-2/7-5-0) this afternoon in an ECAC West contest.
The Lakers jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the opening 20 minutes, and then scored early in the second period before
Nikki Kirchberger (Buffalo/West Seneca West) finally put the Bengals on the scoreboard with her third of the season, unassisted. Penalties would cost the Bengals, however. The Lakers evened the score midway through the opening frame, capitalizing on a 5-on-3 power play. Oswego completed the scoring with a pair of third period goals.
The Lakers held a slight 31-29 advantage in shots, although the Bengals actually outshot Oswego, 23-17, despite trailing 6-1 through the first two periods.
Justine Silva (El Monte, CA/Arroyo) had 23 saves for the Bengals. Oswego finished 3 for 8 on the power play, and Buffalo State was 0 for 5.
The Bengals will next host Elmira in another ECAC West game on Friday at 4 p.m.
