Men’s Soccer Falls in Double Overtime Again at No. 12 Plattsburgh

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y.For the second-consecutive day, Buffalo State suffered a heartbreaking double-overtime defeat, falling 1-0 to host and nationally No. 12-ranked Plattsburgh today in a SUNYAC game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Plattsburgh scored the only goal of the game with just 35 seconds remaining in the second overtime when Fabian Chaparro bent a corner kick into the Bengals' goal.
  • The game was back and forth through regulation and the first overtime with Plattsburgh holding a narrow 11-8 advantage in shots.  The Cardinals poured in on in the second overtime, outshooting Buffalo State, 8-0 during the final segment.
  • William Banahene (Rochester/Brighton) made four saves in goal for the Bengals.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Chaparro scored an overtime game-winner against Buffalo State in 2013 when his bicycle kick ended the game.
  • Mitchell Jordon had three saves in the shutout effort.
 
UP NEXT
Buffalo State will return home for a critical SUNYAC contest against New Paltz next Friday at 3 p.m.  The Bengals are currently tied for fifth in the SUNYAC with 10 points (Potsdam also has 10 points), just one point ahead of New Paltz, who is currently on the outside looking in at the conference postseason picture.
