BUFFALO, N.Y.— Four Bengals scored in double digits, helping Buffalo State race past Medaille 82-68 to open the 2015-16 season at home on Tuesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED- Medaille quickly opened up scoring with a 3-pointer in the first 23 seconds of the game, but it would be its largest and only lead of the game.
- After settling into its offense, Buffalo State built its lead. A three from Taylor Graham (Santa Rosa, CA/Maria Carrillo) at the 4-minute mark of the 1st quarter put the Bengals up 13-7.
- Another three from Graham and a layup from Jordan Yastremski (Bath/Bath-Haverling) gave Buffalo State a 21-14 lead going into the first break.
- A 9-1 run in the middle of the second quarter with six points coming from Yastremski gave the Bengals some breathing room with a 14 point lead, 35-21, at 3:15.
- The Mavericks were not ready to back down, however, ending the final minute of the first half with an 8-0 run to cut the Buffalo State lead down to seven heading into halftime.
- Medaille kept the game close early in the second half, coming to within four points on four occasions in the third quarter, but would never get closer.
- Two quick 3-pointers from rookie Grace Licata (Williamsville/Williamsville South) pushed Buffalo State's lead back out to double digits, 68-58, at 7:39 in the fourth quarter.
- A free throw from Keyonte Edwards (Buffalo/O'Hara) gave the Bengals their largest lead of the game, 82-66, with just over a minute to play.
- Graham led the Bengals offense with 16 points. Yastremski and Edwards both recorded double-doubles with 15 points, 13 rebounds and 13 points, 12 rebounds respectively. Licata added 13 points, while Britt Perry (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) chipped in a team-high six assists.
- Buffalo State capitalized on fast break points, outscoring their opponents 12-2 and also finished with a 19-7 advantage in second chance points.
- Despite committing more turnovers than the Mavericks, 20-17, the Bengals outrebounded Medaille 54-39.
- Buffalo State finished the night shooting 39.4 percent from the floor, 36.8 percent from long range and 56.1 percent from the charity stripe.
FOR THE FOES- Medaille had five players finish in double-digits. Taina Graham led the Maverick offense with 15 points. Rayann Call added 12, while Marceann Dunning and Lauren Kocher chipped in 11 apiece and Lauren Jensen had 10.
- The Mavericks finished the night shooting 38.8 percent from the floor, 11.1 percent from behind the arc and 53.8 percent from the line.
