BUFFALO, N.Y.—Bluffton used a 17-5 run in the third quarter to pull away and claim a 68-53 victory over host Buffalo State to capture the title today in the Betty Abgott Invitational.

HOW IT HAPPENED- Britt Perry (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) led Buffalo State with 15 points, 13 rebounds and four steals.
- Keyonte Edwards (Buffalo/O'Hara) and Clarissa Matias (Buffalo/Holy Angels) netted 12 points apiece for Buffalo State.
- The lead changed four times in the first half with Buffalo State's final advantage coming at 21-20 midway through the second quarter.
- The Beavers took a 29-26 edge into the intermission, before taking control by outscoring Buffalo State 24-11 in the third period.
- Bluffton shot 42 percent (24 of 57) from the field, compared to just 26-percent (18 of 69) shooting by the Bengals.
FOR THE FOES- Macey Sheerer paced Bluffton with 18 points and 13 boards and was an efficient 8 of 13 from the field.
- Taylor Knight added 13 points, six assists and three steals, and Kaycee Rowe finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks.
THE CONSOLATION GAME- John Carroll (2-1) cruised past Thiel (0-4), 77-42, in the consolation game.
- Katlyn Spahar led the Blue Streaks, tying a tournament single-game record with 33 points, and set a new tourney mark with 55 points in the two games.
- Smoo Pryor added 11 points for John Carroll.
- Kayla Welty led Thiel with nine points.
- John Carroll took a 31-15 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. The Blue Streaks limited Thiel to just six points in the fourth quarter.
