BUFFALO, N.Y.— Senior
Kevin Marmolejos (Woodhaven/Beach Channel) scored a career-best 32 points and broke the single game school 3-point record, going 10 of 14 from long range to help Buffalo State race past Hobart, 98-78, in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED- Buffalo State shot lights out from the opening tip and never trailed. Marmolejos started things off for the Bengals, hitting five straight 3-pointers in a row to put Buffalo State ahead 15-4 in the first seven minutes of play.
- With 55 seconds remaining in the first half, a layup from Marmolejos put the Bengals ahead by 15, their largest lead of the half.
- Hobart hit a long 3-pointer after being fouled with just one second left on the clock. Jamal Lucas hit his free throw and cut Buffalo State's lead down to 11, 43-32, heading into the locker room for halftime.
- The Bengals continued to take advantage of their long range shots in the second half to take a commanding lead.
- Marmolejos' final 3-pointer of the night at 7:45 gave the Bengals their largest lead of the night, 31 points, 81-50.
- The closest the Statesmen would get in the closing minutes was 18 points, 96-78, with 50 seconds left.
- Buffalo State shot 61 percent from the floor, 61.5 percent from the 3-point line and 58.8 percent from the charity stripe. The Bengals finished with a 37-26 rebounding advantage.
- Marmolejos led the Bengals offense with 32 points. Michael Henry (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) added 12 points, while Jordan Chateau (Bayside/Lowell) recorded a double-double with 11 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Nico McLean (Buffalo/Amherst) and Domenic Grayer (Brooklyn/Bishop Loughlin) each chipped in 10 points, while Jordan Glover (Buffalo/St. Joe's) tallied a career-high 10 assists.
FOR THE FOES- Lucas led the way for the Statesmen's offense with 23 points and three steals. Sean McKinless added 15 points and Harrison DeMaira chipped in 11 points.
- Hobart finished the night shooting 44.3 percent from the floor, 42.9 percent from long range and 75 percent from the free throw line.
NOTEWORTHY- Marmolejos' 10 3-pointers sets the new single game school record that was previously held by Jake Simmons who hit nine 3's against Plattsburgh on January 21, 2012.
