CORTLAND, NY—Despite controlling much of the play, including outshooting the Red Dragons 11-4 in the third period, Buffalo State (10-11-2/8-8-0) came up short in a 1-0 loss in ECAC West play today at Cortland (6-14-2/5-9-2).
The game remained scoreless through the opening 40 minutes, but Cortland finally generated the game's only offense just 48 second into the third frame. Buffalo State applied significant pressure, but could not net the equalizer.
Justine Silva (El Monte, CA/Arroyo) finished with 17 saves for Buffalo State. The Bengals outshot Cortland, 32-18, but could not find the back of the net. Buffalo State could not strike on any of its five power play opportunities, while Cortland was 0 for 6.
Buffalo State will wrap up the regular season with a pair of home games against Utica at Friday and Saturday. Both games will start at 4 p.m.
