GENESEO, NY—Buffalo State (4-13) had its season come to an end on the road today in the SUNYAC Quarterfinals with a 12-3 defeat against third-seeded and nationally-ranked No. 18 Geneseo (14-2).
Junior
Sarah Lorusso (Lakeview/Frontier) scored all three Buffalo State goals bringing her season-total to 35.
Colleen George (Johnson City/Maine-Endwell) was in goal for the Bengals and finished with 10 saves.
Geneseo jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and never trailed. Lorusso cut the deficit to 2-1 and later to 5-2, but the Knights netted the final five goals of the first half to lead 10-2 at the intermission. Geneseo stalled in the second half and pushed the advantage to 12-2 with 19 minutes remaining and Lorusso completed the scoring with just under five minutes to play.
The Knights outshot Buffalo State 28-12 for the game, including 20-7 in the first half. Geneseo also had a 19-9 advantage in ground balls and a slight 9-8 edge in draw controls.
Today's contest marked the final game in a Buffalo State uniform for seniors George, Carrol Ann Curado (Chittenango/Chittenango),
Rebecca Galanti (Hamburg/Frontier),
Kendra Thomas (Corning/Corning West),
Kaitlyn Gustafson (Endwell/Maine-Endwell),
Meghan Farrell (Endicott/Union-Endicott), and
Alexis Wilensky (Syracuse/Corcoran). Injured midfielder
Emery Fleck (Lancaster/Lancaster) is also part of the Class of 2015.
