NEW PALTZ, N.Y.—New Paltz scored in the 43rd minute and held on for a 1-0 victory over visiting Buffalo State in today's SUNYAC regular season finale.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Buffalo State held a narrow 5-4 advantage in shots in the first half, but went into the locker room down 1-0 after a Bengal defender misplayed a ball back to the keeper that was intercepted and sent to the back of the net. 
  • The Hawks kept the Bengals at bay in the second half, surrendering just one shot over the final 45 minutes.
  • New Paltz finished with a 9-6 edge in shots for the game.
  • Andreas Queen (Stone Ridge/Rondout Valley) finished with two saves in goal for Buffalo State.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Charlie Versen scored for New Paltz.
  • John Guzzo finished with two saves for the shutout.

Buffalo State and New Paltz will square off again next Saturday in the SUNYAC Quarterfinals.  The Bengals will be the No. 4 seed and will host the No. 5 Hawks at Coyer Field at 3 p.m. on Oct. 29.
