BUFFALO, N.Y.—Buffalo State held four one-goal leads, but was only able to come away with a 4-4 tie against Plymouth State this evening in the opening day of the Bengals Invitational.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Erin Gehen (W. Seneca, NY/W. Seneca West) had a goal and an assist for Buffalo State, while Madeline Kromer (Angola, NY/Lake Shore), Caitie Horvatits (Elma, NY/Iroquois), and Jessica Carter (Scottsdale, AZ/Brightmont Academy) also scored
- Gehen opened the scoring just 18 seconds into the contest, but Buffalo State found itself in penalty trouble for much of the remainder of the opening period.
- The Panthers evened the score with a power-play goal later in the frame and the score remained 1-1 at the first intermission.
- Kromer netted a power-play goal to reclaim the Bengals lead midway through the second, but The Panthers answered again just over a minute later.
- Horvatis put the Bengals ahead again with a shorthanded breakaway tally in the first half of the third period.
- Once again, Plymouth State responded to even the score with 6:45 remaining.
- Carter pounded home a rebound with just over five minutes left to put Buffalo State ahead for the fourth time.
- The resilient Panthers found a way to even the score one final time, tallying a power-play goal with just 18 seconds remaining to force overtime, and neither team could break through in the extra session.
- Buffalo State outshot Plymouth 28-19 for the game, including 14-3 in the second period.
- The Bengals were just 1 for 11 on the power play, while the Panthers were 2 for 10.
- Justine Silva (Baldwin Park, CA/Arroyo) finished with 15 saves between the pipes.
FOR THE FOES
- Shannon Hickey had two goals, including the late tying marker, and also added an assist.
- Caitlin Connor picked up three assists, and Taylor Jackson and Kailey Jacobs also scored.
IN THE EARLY GAME
- Morrisville dominated Nichols in the tournament's opening game, winning 9-0, and outshooting the Bison, 61-5.
- Stephanie Strymecki scored three goals for the Mustangs, and Maria DeWilde scored twice.
