POTSDAM, N.Y.—Buffalo State outshot host Potsdam, 31-17, but dropped a 3-0 decision for its first defeat of the season today in an ECAC West contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Buffalo State outshot the Bears 22-13 over the opening 40 minutes, but trailed 1-0 after two periods of play. Potsdam's goal came just 1:45 into the middle frame.
- The Bengals sent nine more shots on goal in the final stanza, but could not break through, and the Bears scored twice on just four shots.
- Potsdam tallied an insurance marker with less than four minutes remaining, and then added an empty-netter in the final minute.
- Justine Silva (Baldwin Park, CA/Arroyo) finished with 14 saves.
FOR THE FOES
- Amanda Peterson scored twice for Potsdam, and Karina Villalobos also scored.
- Jaci Morr had two assists.
- Nicole Whitesell made 31 saves for the shutout.
