Brooke Krantz (Penticton, BC/Penticton) and
Rachel Lenard (Orchard Park, NY/Nardin) each scored in the second period and visiting Buffalo State knocked off No. 10-ranked Utica, 2-1, today in an ECAC West contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED- After a scoreless first period, Krantz netted her fifth goal of the season midway through the second period with assists from Missy Mallon (Amherst, NY/Amherst) and Christine Harris (Mountain Top, PA/Wyoming Seminary).
- Lenard pushed the lead to 2-0 in the closing minutes of the middle frame with her fifth as a Bengal.
- The defensive battled continued into the third period and Utica finally broke through with 2:32 remaining, but the Bengals would not allow the equalizer.
- Justine Silva (Baldwin Park, CA/Arroyo) finished 24 saves in the win as Utica held a 25-19 edge in shots.
FOR THE FOES- Morgan Reed scored the lone goal for Utica.
- Keira Goin finished with 17 saves in the loss.
NOTEWORTHY- Nikki Kirchberger (Buffalo, NY/W. Seneca West) set a school record playing in her 101st career game today.
UP NEXTBuffalo State will close out the ECAC West regular season with another game tomorrow at Utica at 2 p.m. The Bengals currently sit one point behind the Pioneers in the standings. With a win tomorrow, Buffalo State would leapfrog Utica for the No. 3 seed, otherwise it will finish fourth.
