BUFFALO, N.Y.—No. 12 Geneseo scored five third-period goals including a pair of empty-netters to defeat host No. 15 Buffalo State, 6-1, in the SUNYAC Semifinals tonight at the Ice Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED- Buffalo State opened the scoring with the lone goal of the first period. Cory Gurski (Hilton, NY/Hilton) split the defenders and slipped the puck between the goalie's legs to give the Bengals the early lead. Mac Wood (Simcoe, ON/SCS) and Nick Berst (Depew, NY/Lancaster) drew the assists.
- Geneseo capitalized on a power play midway through the second period to even the score.
- The Knights took their first lead just 40 seconds into the third period.
- Then, with Buffalo State serving a five-minute major, Geneseo put the game away with a pair of power-play goals, before adding two more empty net tallies.
- Geneseo finished 3 for 5 on the power play, while Buffalo State was 0 for 2.
- Mike DeLaVergne (Pawling, NY/Pawling) finished with 17 saves and four goals against, as Buffalo State ended the game with a 26-23 edge in shots.
