HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Due to injuries, the Bengals were able to dress just seven players for tonight's game.  Every Buffalo State player chipped in at least four points in the winning effort, led by Grace Licata's (Williamsville/Williamsville South) 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting.  She also had seven rebounds in 36 minutes of play.
  • Caleh McLean (New Rochelle/New Rochelle) finished with 10 points and eight rebounds.
  • Princella McCullough (Rochester/Bishop Kearney) paced the Bengals with a game-high 13 rebounds.  She also chipped in five points, two steals and two blocks.
  • Buffalo State found itself trailing 44-33 entering the fourth quarter, with Brockport holding a lead since the 5:36 mark in the first.
  • With the limited roster, Buffalo State decided against pressing and instead dropped into a zone defense to try to make Brockport beat them with their shooting.
  • The plan worked, as the Golden Eagles shot just 20.8 percent from the field in the second half, including 1-of-10 from beyond the arc.
  • With 6:27 left in the game, Buffalo State found itself trailing by 10.  The Bengals went on an 11-0 run in the following four minutes to take a 47-46 lead with 2:42 left to play.
  • Brockport tied the game at 47 with one minute left after a made free throw.  On the Bengals' following possession, Shyasha Spencer (Geneva/Geneva) found herself open from deep and knocked down a clutch three pointer to give Buffalo State a 50-47 lead with just 47 seconds left.
  • Brockport would convert one more free throw, but its final heave at the buzzer fell short as Buffalo State completed the comeback win, 50-48.

FOR THE FOES
  • Faith Welch led the Golden Eagles with 16 points on 8-of-15 shooting.
