Nationally-No. 13-ranked Buffalo State enters the SUNYAC playoffs as the No. 3 seed and will host sixth-seeded Geneseo in quarterfinal matchup this Saturday at 4 p.m.
The Bengals are 14-1-3 overall and are riding a 15-game unbeaten streak. Buffalo State's 14 wins match the second-highest total in school history, just one win shy of the school record of 15 set in 1982. In addition, the Bengals have not conceded a goal in 558 minutes and four seconds of playing time dating back to a 2-1 victory over Oswego on Oct. 6.
Buffalo State, who finished 5-0-3 in league play, is making its third consecutive postseason appearance. The Bengals defeated New Paltz, 2-0, in last year's first round for the program's first playoff victory since 1984.
The Bengals are led offensively by
Luke Pavone (Rochester/Churchville-Chili) who is second in the SUNYAC with 22 points on eight goals and six assists. Buffalo State boasts the top defense in the league allowing just 0.43 goals and 8.3 shot attempts-per-game.
Andreas Queen (Stone Ridge/Rondout Valley) leads the SUNYAC with a school-record 10 shutouts, while the Bengals have recorded 11 shutouts in all.
Buffalo State is seeking its third SUNYAC Championship and first since 1970.
On the other side, Geneseo finished the regular season 8-7-2 overall and secured the final playoff position with a 3-5-1 mark in league play.
The winner will advance to the semifinals on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at either Cortland or Oneonta.
