BUFFALO, N.Y.-Nationally-ranked No. 21 Buffalo State saw its campaign come to an end tonight in the first round of the NCAA playoffs with a 2-0 defeat against visiting Hobart, ending the program's best season in more than 30 years.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hobart opened the scoring with a backdoor header off a corner kick in the 16th minute.
- Buffalo State matched the Statesmen for the bulk of the first half and appeared poised to even the score in the 41st minute when Luke Pavone (Rochester/Churchville-Chili) played a ball to a streaking Ali Shawish (Lackawanna/Lackawanna) which he blasted off the cross bar, but the Bengals were unable to make a play on the rebound as the initial rush was whistled for offsides.
- Hobart then made it 2-0 just over a minute later as a cross was intercepted by a Bengal defender, but not cleared and a Hobart striker buried the loose ball.
- The Bengals attempted to mount a push in the second half, but a red card in the 62nd minute left Buffalo State a man down for the final 28 minutes.
- Buffalo State finished with a 13-12 advantage in shots and a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.
- Andreas Queen (Stone Ridge/Rondout Valley) finished with three saves in the loss.
FOR THE FOES
- Patrick Schulz and Mouhamed Diouf scored for Hobart.
- Alec Kaminer made six saves to preserve the shutout.
NOTEWORTHY
- Buffalo State finished its season 14-3-3 overall, ending one win shy of matching the school record set in 1982.
