BUFFALO, N.Y. –
Emma Ruggiero (Amherst, NY/Sacred Heart) scored twice and
Madeline Kromer (Angola, NY/Lake Shore) tallied two assists to lead Buffalo State to a 3-0 non-conference victory over Canton, completing the two-game weekend sweep.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Emily DeCock (Ramara, ON/Patrick Fogarty) opened the scoring just 5:55 into the game when she deflected the initial shot from Rachel Lenard (Orchard Park, NY/Nardin) past the goalie for her first goal of the season. Lenard and Kromer picked up assists on the play.
- Canton controlled play to start the second period, but failed to cut into the deficit as goalie Bri Gawronski (Dunkirk, NY/Mt. Mercy) made 14 saves in the period. The Bengals' defense successfully killed four power play chances for the Kangaroos in the frame.
- Buffalo State doubled its lead late in the second frame as Erin Gehen (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) flipped a pass across net to a crashing Ruggiero who found the back of the net. Gehen and Kromer recorded assists.
- The Bengals finished off its scoring as Ruggiero scored an empty net goal for her fourth of the season. Megan Reukauf (Depew, NY/Lancaster) picked up her first assist of the season on the play and Natasha Steinle (Morrison, CO/CIH Academy (ON)) added her sixth assist.
- Gawronski finished with 32 saves in net for the Bengals
