HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Anthony Beaumont (Lester, PA/Interboro) opened the scoring with the only marker of the first period when he followed his own rebound and potted his 10th goal of the season with an assist from Anthony Passero (Fort Erie, ON/Lakeshore).
  • The Bengals extended the lead early in the second period when Nick Berst (Depew, NY/Lancaster) wired a shot through traffic off the left post for his first of the year.  Passero and Mac Wood (Simcoe, ON/SCS) drew the assists.
  • Brockport cut the lead in half with a power-play marker just over two minutes later, but it would not beat Mike DeLaVergne (Pawling, NY/Pawling) again the rest of the way.
  • Brockport successfully killed off a five-minute major penalty in the third period and then finished the game for the final minute with a two-man advantage, but the Bengals managed to preserve the one-goal victory.
  • DeLaVergne made 27 saves for the win as the Bengals held a narrow 30-28 edge in shots on goal.
  • Brockport finished 1 for 5 on the power play, and the Bengals were 0 for 3.

FOR THE FOES
  • Connor Hutchins scored for the Golden Eagles, and Matt Schneider made 28 stops in the loss.
