VIRGINIA BEACH—Buffalo State dropped the final two games of the Virginia Wesleyan Beach Blast today, falling 13-3 in six innings and then 2-0 against Randolph-Macon in the second game.
GAME #1 BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Buffalo State scored one run in each of the first three innings to take a 3-1 lead, but Frostburg exploded for six runs in the fourth inning and then six more in the sixth to seal the victory.
- The Bobcats' 13 runs came on 12 hits and for Bengals' errors.
- Seven different Bengals finished with one hit apiece, with Melissa Woods (Lakeview/Frontier) and Cassandra O'Hern (Augusta, NJ/High Point) each belting doubles.
- Allie Block (N. Tonawanda/Starpoint) took the loss in the circle, allowing seven hits and seven runs (six earned) with six strikeouts in four innings of work.
- Scarlett Whitman (Grand Island/Grand Island) made her first collegiate appearance in relief, pitching the final two innings, surrendering five hits and six runs (two earned) with a pair of strikeouts.
FOR THE FOES
- Allison Short gave up seven hits and one earned run in the win.
- Emily Zengel hit a fourth-inning grand slam, and Brittney Platt was 2 for 4 with a pair of RBIs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Buffalo State finally broke up a no-hitter with a pair of hits in the sixth inning, but could not get the runner past second base.
- The Bengals had a leadoff single followed by a walk in the seventh, but a double-play and a groundout ended the game.
- Randolph-Macon produced on run in the first and had a solo-homer in the sixth for all of the offense it would need.
- Laura Crooks (Niagara Falls/Niagara Wheatfield) had one of the Bengals' three hits to extend her four-game hitting streak to start the season, and Kaelee Lynch (Atwater, CA/Buhach Colony) was 1 for 1 with a walk.
- Whitman took the hard-luck loss, scattering seven hits and allowing just one earned run.
FOR THE FOES
- Cameron Thompson earned the win in the circle for Randolph-Macon, tossing six shutout innings and allowing just three hits. Candace Whittemore got the final three outs for the save.
- Kaylee Reese hit a pinch-hit home run in the sixth inning, and Skylar Toth had an RBI single.
