BUFFALO, N.Y.— Buffalo State finished off the second day of the Bengal Challenge by suffering two more losses this afternoon, falling to St. Lawrence and Case Western.
MATCH 1 BASICS
FINAL SCORE: St. Lawrence def. Buffalo State, 3-0 (25-16, 28-26, 25-20)

RECORDS: St. Lawrence (9-2), Buffalo State (4-7)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Saints claimed the first set 25-16, but Buffalo State battled hard in the middle frame, taking a 20-15 lead before St. Lawrence rallied an ultimately prevailed, 28-26.
- After the Saints jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the third set, the Bengals mounted a 7-0 run to lead 8-5, but St. Lawrence was able to regroup again and win 25-20 to complete the sweep.
- Lauren Hansen (Blue Point/Bayport Blue Point) and Eimile O'Brien (Marietta/Marcellus) registered seven kills apiece for Buffalo State. Hansen added 10 digs and two aces.
- Alyssa Durski (Eden/Eden) had 17 assists.
FOR THE FOES
- Masha Kolesnikova led the Saints with 12 kills and 12 digs, and Katie Kull had 30 assists.
MATCH 2 BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Case Western def. Buffalo State, 3-1 (25-17, 25-14, 18-25, 25-18)
LOCATION: Houston Gym – Buffalo, N.Y.
RECORDS: Case Western (8-3), Buffalo State (4-8)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Spartans opened up the match by winning the first two sets 25-17 and 25-14.
- Buffalo State battled in the third set keeping the score level until rallying for a 9-0 run to claim the set, 25-18.
- Case Western outlasted the Bengals in the fourth set to close out the match 25-18.
- Hansen led the way in the second game with nine kills to go along with 14 digs.
- Durski added 21 assists in the match.
FOR THE FOES
- Brianna Lemon led the Spartans with 16 kills and six digs. Faith Ellis added 21 assists.
NOTEWORTHY
- Case Western finished with a 3-0 record in the Bengal Classic to claim the top spot.
