Pencic hat trick propels Men’s Soccer past Fredonia, 4-0

FREDONIA, N.Y.-- Theo Pencic (Oslo, Norway/Heltberg) netted a hat trick to lead Buffalo State to a lopsided 4-0 victory over host Fredonia today in a SUNYAC contest at University Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Pencic returned to the pitch for the first time since Sept. 15 after missing five games due to injury, and appeared to be in fine form, scoring Buffalo State's first three goals of the contest, giving him a team-best seven goals in just seven games played.
  • Nemanja Simic (Grand Island/Grand Island) added a late tally for his second of the year, while Ali Shawish (Lackawanna/Lackawanna), August Finn (High Falls, NY/Rondout Valley), Colin O'Keefe (Buffalo/Canisius) and Trevor Moreland (Newfane/Newfane) all collected assists in the game.
  • Pencic opened the scoring in the 29th minute and then pushed the lead to 2-0 in the 40th minute.  He completed his hat trick just three minutes into the second half, before Simic sealed the win in the 81st minute.
  • Andreas Queen (Stone Ridge/Rondout Valley) finished with three saves for his fifth shutout in 10 starts this season.
  • Buffalo State outshot the Blue Devils 19-7 for the game, including 11-3 on goal.
