THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE:  Buffalo State – 1, Fredonia - 0
LOCATION: Coyer Field – Buffalo, N.Y.
RECORDS: Buffalo State (4-7-2/3-2), Fredonia (6-7/3-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Buffalo State controlled play from the opening whistle, possessing the ball for nearly all of the opening half, while outshooting Fredonia 9-0, but was unable to break through on the scoresheet.
  • The Bengals started the second half in similar fashion and finally broke the shutout in the 63rd minute on Gallivan's first goal of the season.  Kelli O'Donnell (Williamsville/O'Hara) and Kyndal Hetzel (Hilton/Hilton) each earned assists on the tally.  O'Donnell sent a corner kick into the top of the box which was collected and directed on goal by Hetzel.  Gallivan deflected Hetzel's shot past the Fredonia goalkeeper.
  • Fredonia's only two shot attempts of the game came later in the frame, each from more than 30 yards out.
  • The Bengals finished with a 21-2 advantage in shot attempts and a 9-1 edge in corner kicks.
  • Emma Krenzer (Scottsville/Aquinas) needed to make just two long-range stops for the shutout.

FOR THE FOES
  • Abbey Monahan finished with nine saves in the loss for Fredonia.

NOTEWORTHY
  • Buffalo State earned two points in the season-long Battle by the Lake competition against Fredonia to take a 4-2 series lead.
