HOW IT HAPPENED
- Geneseo took advantage of a pair of Bengals' miscues to jump out to an early 2-0 lead. The Knights first struck just 1:07 into the contest jumping on a big rebound off of long shot from the wing, before scoring again midway through the frame, capitalizing on a defensive zone turnover by Buffalo State.
- Hugo Petit (Chelsea, QC/CIH Acad.) cut the deficit in half before the first intermission with a toe-drag around a Knights' defenseman and finish off assists from Mac Wood (Simcoe, ON/SCS) and Cody Symonds (Woodbridge, ON/Emily Carr).
- Geneseo reclaimed the two-goal lead just 16 seconds into the second period off another defensive zone give-away.
- The Knights went ahead 4-1 less than four minutes later as the Bengals misplayed the puck again which led to a shorthanded tally at the other end of the ice.
- Zach Nieminen (Ajax, ON/Notre Dame CSS) deflected a point shot by Symonds home for his 11th of the season to get the Bengals back in the game with 5:22 left in the middle stanza.
- The Knights added another goal just over three minutes later, however, converting a rebound off an odd-man rush.
- Neither teams would score in the third period.
- Buffalo State was 0 for 3 on the power play and allowed a shorthanded goal, while Geneseo was 0 for 4 with the man-advantage.
- Geneseo outshot Buffalo State 38-22 for the game.
