No. 13/14 Men’s Hockey ties Cortland 2-2 on Senior Night

BUFFALO, N.Y.—No. 13/14 Buffalo State was unable to convert a two-goal lead into a victory as visiting Cortland battled back to earn a 2-2 tie in a SUNYAC contest tonight at the Ice Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Buffalo State was the aggressor in the opening frame and jumped out to a 2-0 first-period lead. 
  • Anthony Passero (Fort Erie, ON/Lakeshore) opened the scoring with a back-door tap-in off a feed from Ben Butcher (Bellingham, WA/Langley) for his sixth goal of the season.
  • Vadim Vasjonkin (Tallinn, Estonia) extended the Bengals lead with his sixth of the season on a rebound off Mac Wood (Simcoe, ON/SCS) shot.
  • Cortland dominated the second period, outshooting the Bengals 13-4 and cut the lead in half with a power-play marker midway through the stanza.
  • The Red Dragons netted the equalizer just 1:29 into the third period and neither team would score again.
  • Cortland finished with a 30-26 edge in shots on goal, including 3-1 in overtime.
  • Ian Sylves (Sloan, NY/JFK) finished with 28 saves.
