Women’s Lacrosse topples Allegheny, 17-11

MEADVILLE, Pa.-- Christina Krowel (Amsterdam/B.H.-B.L.) tallied eight goals and Elyse Stark (Lido Beach/Long Beach) made 15 saves to lead Buffalo State to a 17-11 victory over host Allegheny in a non-conference contest this afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Krowel netted a career-best eight goals, including the final three goals of the game, to pace the Bengals' attack.
  • Ally Ruggieri (Brockport/Brockport) added three goals and an assist.
  • Alanna Herne (Tonawanda/Tonawanda) had two goals and three assists, while Kendall Skuse (Churchville/Churchville-Chili) chipped in a goal and four assists.
  • Nina Schaefer (Lafayette/Lafayette) finished with a goal and an assist, while Kayla Rose (Lancaster/Lancaster) and Jackie Dufresne (Lake View/Frontier) also scored.
  • Herne opened the scoring, but the Gators responded with three-straight goals to grab an early 3-1 lead.
  • Buffalo State responded with a 7-0 run, but Allegheny scored six of the next seven goals to even the score at 9-9 early in the second half.
  • The Bengals took control from there, however, outscoring the Gators 8-2 the rest of the way.
  • Buffalo State held a narrow 32-30 edge in shots, while Allegheny held a 26-25 margin in shots on goal, but Stark proved to be the difference with 15 saves.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Shelby Piper and Emily Kraus had four goals each for Allegheny.
  • Maddie Olson posted three goals and three assists.
 
UP NEXT
Buffalo State will travel to Elmira on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. start.
