TROY, N.Y.—No. 19/20 RPI piled up 501 yards of total offense, including 343 on the ground in a 44-14 victory over visiting Buffalo State today at ECAV Stadium.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Senior quarterback Kevin Torrillo (Amherst/Sweet Home) finished 16 of 28 for 118 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Freshman Tony Maple (Buffalo/Burgard) came on in relief and was 8 of 9 for 71 yards with a touchdown in his first collegiate action.
- Jordan Evert (Amherst/Sweet Home) finished with five catches for 67 yards and two touchdowns. Jamar Rutledge (Buffalo/McKinley) caught nine passes for 43 yards.
- Gino Bonagura (Lindenhurst/Lindenhurst) had a team-high nine tackles.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- RPI limited Buffalo State to just 29 offensive yards on three possessions in the first quarter while jumping out to a 10-0 lead. The Engineers opened the scoring on a 19-yard touchdown catch by Danny Calabro, and then extended the lead with a 26-yard field goal by Sanjay Krishnan.
- The teams traded scores early in the second quarter with RPI pushing the lead to 16-0 on a 13-yard scoring run by Rob Law, before the Bengals got on the board with a 6-yard strike from Torrillo to Evert.
- The Engineers answered that score with a pair of touchdowns in the next 31 seconds. Nick Cella broke a 65-yard scoring run on the next play from scrimmage, and after an interception on the Bengals' next play, RPI needed just on play to score again on a 27-yard pass from George Marinopoulos to Keaton Ackermann making the score 30-7 before halftime.
- RPI produced the only scored of the third quarter on a 2-yard run by Joe Scaglione.
- Maple hit Evert for a 23-yard score for his first collegiate touchdown pass early in the fourth quarter to close the deficit to 37-14.
- The Engineers responded with a 70-yard drive capped by a 1-yard run by JT Kelly to complete the scoring on the ensuing drive.
- Buffalo State finished with just 256 total yards, including 67 rushing.
- The Engineers with also 6 of 10 on third downs, compared to 6 of 17 by the Bengals.
FOR THE FOES
- Marinopoulos was just 8 of 13 for 158 yards and two touchdowns.
- Cella led a consistent ground attack with 131 yards on just 12 carries and a touchdown.
- Jack Hoggard led RPI with 13 tackles.
