BUFFALO, N.Y.—Potsdam netted a pair of second-period goals en route to a 3-1 victory over host Buffalo State tonight in an NEWHL contest at the Ice Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Potsdam opened the scoring late with a power-play goal, but Buffalo State evened the score with 18 seconds remaining in the first period as Lila Toczek (Pendleton, NY/Starpoint) netted her ninth of the season from Ky Lackey (Phoenix, AZ/Barry Goldwater) and Emma Ruggiero (Amherst, NY/Sacred Heart).
- After being outshot 11-7 in the first period, Potsdam controlled the middle frame with an 18-4 advantage in shots and took the lead with a pair of goals.
- Buffalo State mounted a strong push in the third period, outshooting Potsdam 10-5, but could not break through.
- Bri Gawronski (Dunkirk, NY/Mt. Mercy) finished with 27 saves as the Bears ended with a 30-25 edge in shots on goal for the game.
- Potsdam was 1 for 1 on the power play, and the Bengals were 0 for 3.
