ROCHESTER, N.Y.—Nazareth jumped out to an early 8-1 lead and cruised to victory, as visiting Buffalo State dropped a 14-5 decision today in its non-conference season-opener.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jackie Dufresne (Lakeview/Frontier) scored twice and Kendall Skuse (Churchville/Churchville-Chili) had a goal and two assists to lead Buffalo State.
- Hannah Nagowski (Lancaster/Lancaster) and Nina Schaefer (Lafayette/Lafayette) added a goal apiece.
- Nazareth jumped out to an early 5-0 lead just over 10 minutes into the game. Nagowski got the Bengals on the scoreboard, but the Golden Flyers answered with the next three goals before leading 9-2 at halftime.
- Schaefer started the second-half scoring, but Nazareth responded with four of the next five goals to pull away for the win.
- Nazareth outshot Buffalo State 39-16, including a 31-11 edge in shots on goal. Janae Nelson (Elmont/Elmont-Memorial) finished with 17 saves for the Bengals in her first collegiate start.
- The Golden Flyers also held a 33-20 advantage in ground balls and a 13-8 edge in draw controls.

- Emma Robinson led Nazareth with four goals as eight different players scored at least once.
