THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE:  Buffalo State – 3, Plattsburgh – 2 (2OT)
LOCATION: Coyer Field - Buffalo, N.Y.
RECORDS: Buffalo State (4-5-1/1-1), Plattsburgh (4-3-1/0-1-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Despite Buffalo State applying significant pressure early in the contest, it was Plattsburgh that opened the scoring in the 36th minute.
  • The Cardinals held the lead into the second half and appeared to be in control until freshman Sarah Berlinger (Grand Island/Grand Island) bodied home a back-post pass from Allie Reeds (E. Amherst/Williamsville South) in the 79th minute to even the score.
  • The Bengals pulled ahead less than five minutes later when Hanson buried another feed from Reeds.
  • The lead was short-lived however, as Plattsburgh scrambled to get off a late corner and connected on a header to even the score at 2-2 with just nine seconds remaining in regulation.
  • The Cardinals threatened late in the first over time, but Taylor Carillo (Pine Bush/Pine Bush) had the answer making perhaps her biggest of her nine saves in the game.
  • Then in the 103rd minute, Hanson eluded a pair of defenders on the right wing and sent the winning try to the back of the net for her team-leading sixth goal of the season.
  • Reeds and Kyndal Hetzel (Hilton/Hilton) finished with two assists each.
  • The Bengals finished with a 25-23 edge in shots, while Plattsburgh had a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks.

FOR THE FOES
  • Kirsten Villemaire and Sarah Bonner scored for the Cardinals.
  • Julia Ennis made eight saves in the loss.
