HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Potsdam opened the scoring with a pair of goals in the early stages on the second period.
  • The Bengals cut the deficit in half midway through the middle frame when Cheyenne Matson (Wasilla, AK/Matsu Career & Tech) took a drop pass from Lila Toczek (Pendleton, NY/Starpoint) and wired a wrist shot to the back of the net for her second goal of the season.
  • The Bears reclaimed the lead in the middle of the third period when an odd bounce caromed in front of the Bengals net and was stuffed in for a 3-1 advantage.
  • The Bengals responded just 1:08 later with Tristin Stetson's (Anchorage, AK/West) fifth goal of the season off a 2-on-1 feed from Angelina Cruzal (Campbell, CA/Westmont).  Matson also drew an assist.
  • Buffalo State continued to apply pressure in the late stages on the game, including a breakaway attempt by Toczek with just over a minute remaining, but could not tally the equalizer.
  • Bri Gawronski (Dunkirk, NY/Mt. Mercy) finished with 23 saves as the Bengals held a 30-26 edge in shots on goal.
