BUFFALO, N.Y— Potsdam took a 2-0 lead early in the second period and held on for a 3-2 victory at Buffalo State today in a NEWHL contest at the Ice Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Potsdam opened the scoring with a pair of goals in the early stages on the second period.
- The Bengals cut the deficit in half midway through the middle frame when Cheyenne Matson (Wasilla, AK/Matsu Career & Tech) took a drop pass from Lila Toczek (Pendleton, NY/Starpoint) and wired a wrist shot to the back of the net for her second goal of the season.
- The Bears reclaimed the lead in the middle of the third period when an odd bounce caromed in front of the Bengals net and was stuffed in for a 3-1 advantage.
- The Bengals responded just 1:08 later with Tristin Stetson's (Anchorage, AK/West) fifth goal of the season off a 2-on-1 feed from Angelina Cruzal (Campbell, CA/Westmont). Matson also drew an assist.
- Buffalo State continued to apply pressure in the late stages on the game, including a breakaway attempt by Toczek with just over a minute remaining, but could not tally the equalizer.
- Bri Gawronski (Dunkirk, NY/Mt. Mercy) finished with 23 saves as the Bengals held a 30-26 edge in shots on goal.
