HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bengals' line of Zach Remers (Clarence, NY/Canisius), Vadim Vasjonkin (Tallinn, Estonia) and Nikita Kozyrev (Tallinn, Estonia) combined to produce eight points to pace the offense.  Remers had a goal and two assists, Vasjonkin had a goal and an assist, and Kozyrev dished out three assists.
  • Charles Barber (Queensbury, NY/Lake George), Cody Symonds (Woodbridge, ON/Emily Carr), Jon Colley (Stouffville, ON/Stouffville District) and A.J. Marinelli (Amherst, NY/Kenmore East) also scored for Buffalo State.
  • The Bengals struck first midway through the first period with Barber converting against his former team for his fifth of the season on a one-timer off a feed from Kozyrev.
  • Plattsburgh drew even, but Symonds' second goal of the season on a rebound gave the Bengals a 2-1 lead before the first intermission.
  • Despite being outshot 27-17 through the first two periods, Buffalo State was able to take a 3-1 lead into the final frame as Vasjonkin's 11th goal of the year for the only marker in the middle stanza.
  • Buffalo State blew the game open with a pair of goals less than a minute apart early in the third with Colley's third of the year, followed by Remers' 12th
  • The Bengals appeared to score again just seconds later, but it was ruled that it was kicked into the net.
  • Buffalo State completed the scoring in the closing minutes with an empty-netter by Marinelli.
