Women's Soccer drops SUNYAC battle at Oswego

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State defense proved too tough to handle, as the Buffalo State women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision on the road to the Lakers, in SUNYAC action from the Laker Turf Stadium Friday afternoon.

  • Freshmen Carm Mercurio (Rome, N.Y./Rome Free Academy) and Fatuma Rasulo (Buffalo, N.Y./Lafayette) each tallied a shot to lead the Bengal offense.
  • Junior goalkeeper Bella Vene (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) made 10 saves in 78 minutes of action. Freshman Samantha Kaufman (Cheektowaga, N.Y./West Seneca East) made one save in the final 12 minutes.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Oswego State got on the board with an individual effort in the 15th minute.
  • In the 33rd minute, Graisa Madden found Elizabeth Myers, as she tallied her
  • Eight minutes later, Sara Marinaro increased the margin to three, as her shot was deflected off the fingertips of Vene and into net.
  • The Bengals had a solid chance at net in the 36th minute as Rasulo forced a turnover around the penalty box and took a low shot that curled wide.
FOR THE FOES
  • Oswego State outshot Buffalo State by a 22-2 margin.
  • Haley Muehl got the start in net and earned the clean sheet, seeing just two shots (none on target) in the 90 minutes.
