BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State men's soccer team fought to a 1-1 draw with SUNYAC foe Oneonta at Coyer Field, battling their opponent and the weather on Friday evening. Two lightning delays forced the game to be called with nearly 12 minutes left on the clock.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Zak Shaibi (Buffalo, NY/McKinley) led the Bengals with a goal on two shots.
- Moe Saif (Buffalo, NY/Coppell, TX) had the assist on the Bengal goal.
- Max Shoemaker (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Falls) made four saves for Buffalo State.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- With the game still scoreless in the 20th minute, goalkeeper Shoemaker made an excellent save to deny Oneonta's Matt Howe right in front of goal.
- As time wound down in the first half, Saif fed Shaibi just outside the penalty box on the right side. Shaibi took a touch with his right foot, cut inside to beat two defenders, and blasted a left-footed shot into the top left corner of the net to give Buffalo State a 1-0 advantage with 30 seconds left in the half.
- At half-time, lightning caused a weather delay of one hour and fourty-seven minutes.
- In the 50th minute, Shoemaker denied Howe again from close range, this time diving to his left to turn away a shot.
- Oneonta missed a glorious opportunity to tied the score in the 69th minute as Lucas Fecci got behind the defense, but fired a shot just over the crossbar.
- In the 71st minute, Shoemaker made another save to thwart John Bernadi, sprawling to his right to stop a shot just inside the post.
- Fecci made up for his miss in the 75th minute, heading a cross over Shoemaker and into the goal to tie the score at 1-1.
- The game was called in the 79th minute due to another lightning delay.
FOR THE FOES
- Fecci scored the goal, and had three shots for the Red Dragons.
- Aaron Harrison was credited with an assist on the goal.
UP NEXT
Buffalo State will host New Paltz on Saturday afternoon at Coyer Field. The Bengals will also honor their 10 seniors prior to the game.
