Box Score PLATTSBURGH, N.Y.— The Buffalo State volleyball team came out of a huge hole, storming out of a five-point hole in the fourth set to salvage a 3-2 thriller over Plattsburgh, in SUNYAC play from Memorial Hall Saturday afternoon.

- Three Bengals tallied double-digit kills, led by senior Alena McKelvey's (Buffalo, N.Y./City Honors) 13 kills and 16 digs.
- Senior Liz Schultheis (Holley, N.Y./Brockport) added 11 kills and a team-high six blocks.
- Junior Jenna Hugenschmidt (Clarence Center, N.Y./Clarence) led the Buffalo State defense with 21 digs, adding six assists and five service aces.
- Sophomore Riley Domin (Getzville, N.Y./Williamsville South) paced the offense with 31 assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- 'State found itself in a five-point hole (10-5) in the opening set.
- The Bengals tallied four straight points to bring the deficit to two (11-9).
- The Bengals could get no closer, as Plattsburgh scored the final two points to win the set.
- Buffalo State took a commanding 11-3 lead in the second set.
- Plattsburgh brought it to within five (14-9), but a McKelvey kill keyed a 5-0 run to put the Cardinals away.
- 'State jumped out once again to a big lead, this time scoring the first seven points of the third set.
- A 6-0 run keyed by a pair of Hugenschmidt aces gave the Bengals a 21-12 lead.
- The Cardinals roared back, going on a 13-2 run to take the set, 25-23.
- This time, the Cardinals jumped out to an early advantage, as they took a 10-5 lead in the fourth set.
- Down 16-13, the Bengals stormed back, as an Angelina Scichilone (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East) kill sparked an 11-1 run to give 'State a 24-17 lead, eventually taking the set.
- The fifth set was nip-and-tuck, but the Bengals prevailed with a Schultheis kill to win the final set, 15-12.
FOR THE FOES
- Jenn Braun led the Cardinals with 12 kills.
- Maddy Zophy led the defense with 29 digs.
- Allyssa Rock paced the offense with 16 assists.
- Ann Beauchamp tied a game-high with six blocks, adding five kills.
