HAMBURG, N.Y.— The Buffalo State volleyball team put forth a dominant performance on the road, tallying 18 service aces and allowing just 25 points all match long en route to a three-set sweep of Hilbert Wednesday evening.

- Grace Carey (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) led the Bengal offense with nine kills, hitting .278 on 18 attempts.
- Valerie Ryan (Woodside, N.Y./Frank Sinatra) added seven kills, hitting .417 on 12 attempts.
- Myah Platler (Syracuse, N.Y./Solvay) tallied a team-leading eight digs and five service aces to go along with six kills.
- Riley Domin (Getzville, N.Y./Williamsville South) paced the offense with 19 assists.
- Domin and Destinee Norman (Lewiston, N.Y./Lewiston-Porter) each added three service aces.
- The Bengals hit .235 as a team in the victory.
- Buffalo State improves to 31-2 all-time against the Hawks, winning nine of the last 10 matchups.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- 'State jumped out to an 8-1 lead in the opening set, cruising to a 25-10 set victory.
- The second set was a bit closer at the start, as the Bengals won seven of the first 10 points.
- The Bengals went on an 11-0 run to take a 17-3 lead, highlighted by a trio of Platler service aces.
- Buffalo State took advantage of six consecutive attack errors to win the second set.
- It was another quick start for the Bengals in the third set, as they opened up a nine-point, 13-4 lead.
- The Bengals finished the match, scoring five of the last six points.
FOR THE FOES
- Maria Spinelli and Cassandra Thompson each led the Hawks with two kills.
- Thompson also led the defense with seven digs.
- Ashley Page paced the offense with three assists.
UP NEXT
The Bengals will take the weekend off, returning to action on Tuesday, Oct. 26 when they travel to face Houghton College at 7 p.m. The Bengals will also learn their SUNYAC playoff fate over the weekend, as Oneonta competes against Geneseo and Brockport this weekend. Oneonta holds a two-game edge in the loss column, but the Bengals have a head-to-head win over the Red Dragons earlier this season. Buffalo State finished its conference slate last weekend.
