HOW IT HAPPENED
- Saif made a great individual effort for the Bengals first goal in the eighth minute. He made a run from his own end through the Golden Eagles defense and attempted to pass a through ball that was intercepted. Not to be deterred, Saif stole the ball back and blasted a shot low into the left corner of the net from 25 yards out.
- Right before halftime, Abdullah doubled the Buffalo State lead. Saif began the play by dropping a pass back to Abdulla, who passed the ball to Theo Pencic (Oslo, Norway/Heltberg). Pencic made a great return pass, and Abdulla struck a right-footed shot cleanly into the back of the net for a 2-0 advantage.
- Brockport cut into the Buffalo State lead in the 59th minute off a corner kick, as Josh Fitzpatrick knocked the cross into the back of the net.
- The Golden Eagles knotted the game up in the 67th minute from the penalty spot. After a foul in the 18-yard box, Matthew Stefaniw slotted the spot kick to the left as Shoemaker dove the other way.
- Abdullah scored an incredible goal for the game winner in the 79th minute.
- Saif stole the ball down the right sideline and slid a pass to Zak Shaibi (Buffalo, NY/McKinley) before he was fouled by a Brockport defender. The referee allowed Buffalo State to play the advantage, and Shaibi dribbled down the sideline before finding Abdulla in the middle of the field. Abdullah flicked the ball up in the air to evade a defender, then struck a half-volley into the right side of the net.
- Buffalo State held on in the final ten minutes for the victory.
FOR THE FOES
- Stefaniw led the Golden Eagles with five shot attempts.
