ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Nazareth tallied five second-period goals to pull away from the Buffalo State women's hockey team, as the Bengals fell 8-1 to the Golden Flyers in the season opener from the Bill Grey's Iceplex Friday afternoon.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Carys Ursell (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Fire AAA) tallied the lone goal for the Bengals in the second period, her first career goal.
- Jessica Auge (Laingsburg, Mich./Honeybaked Detroit) made 48 saves in her first career start.
- This was the first ever meeting between the two schools.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Nazareth opened the scoring with six minutes left in the opening period as Olivia Miller-Johnson scored on the rebound on the power play.
- Nazareth doubled the score early in the second period, as Makenna Wiljanen got one into the net.
- The Golden Flyers scored just over 90 seconds later, as Abbey Luth scored on the rebound after a Wiljanen shot.
- Luth then doubled up with her second goal of the game, this time while shorthanded.
- Buffalo State got on the board with Ursell's goal midway through the period, just after the face-off at 10:49.
- Nazareth ended the period with two more goals, as Keeley Rose and Gabriella DeMeo scored.
- The Golden Flyers scored twice in the final period, as Rae Rice and Ally Watrous provided the final margins.
FOR THE FOES
- Luth led the Golden Flyers with two goals, adding one assist.
- Wiljanen led the team with three assists, adding the aforementioned goal.
- Madison Nichols added two helpers.
- 12 different Nazareth skaters earned at least a point.
