Box Score BUFFALO, NY— The Buffalo State volleyball team won the first two sets, but New Paltz won the final three sets to earn a SUNYAC victory on Friday night at the Sports Arena.

Angelina Scichilone (Holtsville, NY/Sachem East) lead the Bengals with 15 kills and a .333 hitting percentage. She also tallied 15 digs and was 31-31 on service reception.

Jenna Hugenschmidt (Clarence Center, NY/Clarence) tallied a season-high 28 digs.

Riley Domin handed out 26 assists, and also contributed three service aces.
o Four Bengals had double-digit digs: Hugenschmidt (28 digs), Scichilone (15), Domin (12), and
Maddie Hannon (Elma, NY/Williamsville North) added 10 digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
o The Bengals jumped out to a 14-7 lead in the first set, but the Hawks rallied to take a 22-21 lead. Buffalo State responded by winning four of the final six points to take the opening frame 25-23.
o The score was tied at 13-13 in the second set before
Abby Verner (Ransomville, NY/Trinity) led the Bengals on a four-point run. New Paltz cut the lead to 19-17, but the Bengals scored six of the final seven points to earn a two-sets to none advantage.
o New Paltz earned a hard-fought 25-22 victory in the third set to gain some momentum in the match.
o The score was tied at 22-22 in a back-and-forth fourth set, but the Hawks won the final three points to even up the match at two-sets apiece and force a decisive fifth set.
o New Paltz raced out to a 5-2 lead in the fifth set, but a kill by Scichilone helped Buffalo State tie the match at 5-5. From that point, the Hawks scored ten of the final twelve points to pull away with a 15-7 victory.
FOR THE FOES
o Letisha Perez finished with 14 kills and a .407 hitting percentage, and tallied a match-high nine block assists.
