BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State women's hockey team battled for a full sixty minutes, but lost a tough-fought 6-2 decision to NEWHL foe Cortland on Saturday afternoon at the Ice Arena.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Tori Fadeley (Buffalo, NY/Cazenovia Chiefs) and Angelina Cruzal (Campbell, CA/San Jose Jr. Sharks) each tallied a goal for Buffalo State.
- Jessica Auge (Laingsburg, MI/Honeybaked Detroit) made 53 saves in goal for the Bengals.
- Rylee Garrow (Akwesasne, NY/St. Lawrence Steel) and Bethany Horvatits (Elma, NY/Cazenovia Chiefs) recorded their first collegiate points with assists on the goals.
- Buffalo State scored their first short-handed goal of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cortland got off to a hot start, scoring three times in the opening 11 minutes of the first period.
- After a timeout by Buffalo State, the Bengals began skating noticeably faster and Cruzal's goal cut the lead to 3-1 with under three minutes remaining in the period.
- Horvatits stole a pass from a Cortland attacker and sent a shot that was turned wide by the Red Dragons goaltender. She sped to the rebound, and slid a pass to Cruzal, who sent a wrist shot past the goalie's glove and into the net.
- The score remained 3-1 until two Buffalo State penalties less than four minutes into the second period led to goals for each team.
- Cortland capitalized on a 5-3 advantage, as Grace Schnorr scored her second goal of the game.
- Just 16 seconds later, the Bengals responded, as Garrow stole a pass behind the Cortland net and sent a pass to Fadeley out front for a one-timer to make the score 4-2.
- Cortland scored two more goals in the third period to complete the scoring.
FOR THE FOES
- Schnorr recorded a hat trick, and also added an assist to lead the Red Dragons.
- Jillian Hlasnick scored and had two assists, while Amanda Gaffney, Katie DeVoe, and Kait Bourgeois each tallied two assists.
