PLYMOUTH, MICH — The Buffalo State men's hockey team took on perhaps its greatest test of the 2021-22 season Friday night, falling to the United States National Development Under-18 team by an 8-1 score.

- Andrew Logar (Niagara Falls, NY/Corpus Christi Rays) tallied the lone goal for the Bengals in the second period, off a Nikita Kozyrev (Tallin, Estonia/Springfield Jr. Blues) assist.
- Emil Norrman (Kungsbaka, Sweden/Dells Ducks) made 11 saves in 31:13 of action, giving way to Connor Minch (Manchester, N.H./Islanders Hockey Club), who tallied 12 saves to close out the contest.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Buffalo State's lone goal came off the face-off late in the second period. Logar took a shot that deflected off a USNDT player and into the stick of Kozyrev behind the net, who found Logar for the one-timer at 18:36.
- Jimmy Snuggerud got the 'National team on the board in the first period, with two goals, including a power-play tally at 17:03.
- The Bengals out-shot the USNDT by an 8-7 margin in the second period, but Logan Cooley, Lane Hutson, and Marek Hejduk scored even-strength goals to give the hosts a 5-0 lead, before 'State got on the board with Logar's tally.
- The USNDT scored thrice in the third period to end the contest, including Snuggerud's hat-trick tally midway through the period as they outshot the Bengals 13-3.
FOR THE FOES
- Snuggerud scored thrice and added an assist for four points.
- Cooley scored and led the team with four assists, leading all skaters with a +5 on the day.
- Rutger McGroarty and Frank Nazar III each added two assists.
- Carsen Musser stopped 18-of-19 shots to earn the win in net.
- The USNDT out-shot Buffalo State by a 31-19 margin.
