BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State volleyball team dropped their SUNYAC opener on Tuesday night, falling to Fredonia in three sets at the Sports Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bengals were led offensively by Samantha Coakley (Lockport, NY/Lockport) and Angelina Scichilone (Holtsville, NY/Sachem East), who each tallied six kills.
- Maddie Hannon (Elma, NY/Williamsville North) had 11 digs to pace the defense.
- Fredonia used a seven-point run to take a 12-5 advantage in the first set, including two service aces by Selena Brown. From that point, Buffalo was unable to get within six points as the Blue Devils coasted to the 25-17 victory.
- The Bengals built a 19-16 lead in the second but were unable to maintain the advantage as Fredonia mounted a comeback, winning nine of the final 11 points in the set.
- The Blue Devils never trailed in the third set on the way to closing out the match with a 25-19 victory.
- Fredonia had a .212 hitting percentage for the match, including a .414 hitting percentage in the first set.

- Christine Ackendorf led Fredonia with 11 kills and Selena Brown added three service aces and five total blocks
- Kourtney Krchniak dished out 29 assists for the visiting Blue Devils
