History:
The Bengals have faced Fredonia more than any other opponent, and holds a 121-32 all-time record against the Blue Devils. Buffalo State is currently on a five-game winning streak over Fredonia. The last time these two teams met was on the final game of the 2019-20 season, where the Bengals came back from a two-point halftime deficit to beat Fredonia 92-87 on Feb. 22, 2020.
Eye on the Bengals:
The Bengals are 2-15 (1-9 SUNYAC), are looking to bounce back off a two-game losing streak to Plattsburgh State and SUNY Potsdam.
DaRon Hughey (Hartford, CT/The Masters School) played a season high 38 minutes in Saturday's contest at Plattsburgh State while scoring 23 points.
- In Sunday's game at Potsdam,
Robert Richards (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) posted a career-high 22 points, shooting 8-of-13 from the field.
- The Bengals are second in the SUNYAC in offensive rebounding with 13.8 caroms per game, and
Philbert Weekes (Brooklyn, NY/Lafayette) is a big reason why. He sits ninth nationally with 4.57 offensive boards per game, and currently leads the league (and 12th nationally) with 12.5 rebounds per game. He's tallied seven double-doubles this season, including a 27-point, 14-rebound effort in the win against Plattsburgh State on Wednesday, Jan. 19, and a 17-point, program-record 28 boards against John Carroll on Nov. 20.
Eye on the Blue Devils:
Like Buffalo State, Fredonia has had their struggles with a 2-15 (2-8 SUNYAC) record, but come off of a dramatic victory over Plattsburgh State at the buzzer last Sunday. Matt Aebersold had 17 points plus the game winning 3-pointer. Aaron Collins also added a season high with 23 in the win. Fredonia has won two of their last four games, both coming against Plattsburgh State.
- The Blue Devils average 65.8 points per game shooting 38 percent from the field, as well as 18.6 turnovers a game.
- Collins has given Fredonia a boost in 2022, as the rookie leads the team with 14.2 points per game over the five-game stretch.
- Bryan Dydy leads the team with 5.2 rebounds per game, and is one of three players averaging double-digits in points at 10.5 per game.
